Andrej Pejic

The current poster boy for the fashion world's love of androgyny, Serbian-Australian Andrej Pejic made history by becoming the first transgender model to grace the cover of a major fashion glossy. The 21 year-old appears in both masculine and feminine Jean Paul Gaultier pieces on January's Serbian Elle, which happens to be the Elle of his home country.

With the constant demand to have him appear in both womenswear and menswear, it's only a matter of time before Pejic lands a Vogue cover. Here's looking at you, Vogue Paris!

Androgynous It Model Andrej Pejic Stars in JPG Campaign

Andrej Pejic and Karolina Kurkova

Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring/Summer 2011 campaign preview is out, photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. The photos star Karolina Kurkova and Andrej Pejic -- can you tell who's who?

I could be casting off the images because Love beat them to the punch with their Lea T/Kate Moss cover, but I just don't think that Gaultier's version is as interesting, considering they're creating the illusion of a gay couple. Well, I suppose it wouldn't be an illusion to those who have no idea Andrej is a male model. On a different note, I understand that Gaultier needs his logo in there somewhere, but does it have to be so blatant and distracting?

For a better look at Andrej's feminine face, check out the other photo after the jump.

Items Du Jour: Kim Kardashian on Glamour, Lady Gaga Tops Magazine Sales

Kim Kardashian on Glamour-- Lady Gaga scored the highest number of monthly and bi-weekly magazines sold. Not surprisingly, the Rolling Stones cover with a nice view of her rear end sold 245,000 copies -- three times the magazine's 2010 average. Taylor Swift and Blake Lively were the worst-selling celebrities.

-- Elle magazine's parent company Lagardere is in talks with Hearst (Harper's Bazaar publisher) to sell all 40-plus foreign editions of the fashion glossy (sans the original French version) as soon as the end of the month. Lagardere claims it will keep full editorial control, despite whatever happens in the sale.

-- Kim Kardashian covers Glamour in pajamas, which she makes look incredibly sexy, despite what she says in her interview: "I don’t find myself as sexy as everyone thinks. I’m a lot more insecure than people would assume, but with little stupid things." This must explain why she constantly poses nude or in skin-tight outfits.

-- Androgynous model Andrej Pejic stars in the latest Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign, alongside Ginta Lapina. One can actually detect that he's most likely a guy in the photo.
